After our 3 +/- hour drive from Antigua, complete with all that off-roading we had made it and safely! Whoop!
Now it was time to explore what is to me one of the most colorful places throughout Guatemala, the Sunday Mayan market. It was a little less chaotic and crowded than usual with the national holiday taking place, but no less beautiful. It always proves any length of travel worth it.
Sadly, my buddy Diego was nowhere in sight. Nor was his mom and her market stall. I'm really hoping everything is okay with them! We were fortunate enough to make another buddy though. Unlike Diego and his flutes Ana was selling hand-crafted bookmarks and earring holders. They were beautiful and useful, but sticking to my promise of taking any Chichi buddies to lunch instead of buying products we invited Ana to join us for tacos.
and then we bought some bookmarks... How can you say no to a face like that?!
